editing process

For the song title in the intro i decided to use white text because the background is fairly dark so that's what showed up the best. I interacted with the text by moving my hand in a swiping motion after a few seconds in the clip, at the same time that the text disappeared from view.

The editing process took 2 weeks, i started by putting the sound and all the clips i filmed in, if there was clips that matched the lyrics in the song i put those at the right points along the track.

With every clip in the video I applied the crop and feather distortion effect to create a vintage  film camera look. I did this to compliment the old building setting in my video.

In the shots where I was lip syncing, especially ones like these where my face is very visible, i used the audio shown in green at the bottom of the screen to accurately line up the clip with the song.

For the purple scenes within the video that was filmed in st pancras station, to get that purple hue effect I opened up colour board and changed the settings for all of those clips, as shown below. As a final touch for dramatic effect I added the raindrop on top of those clips.

I applied the bokeh effect to the clip of me to give a slightly surreal transition as I layered different clips of me onto the video. How I did this was I recorded separate clips of me sitting in different locations on the bench, then fitted them all together in layers. I blurred out the edges of each clone so that they fit better into the clip. This would have worked much better if I had used a tripod, but my tripod broke on the day of filming.

For this clip I used the mirror effect and it appeared as if I was turning to myself and singing, giving the effect of more than one character in the video but it's just me.

For a further suspenseful effect I slowed down the speed of this clip where I lean against the wall, also filmed behind some railings to give depth into the clip. I also reversed this clip and kept showing very short clips of some of the shots, in time to the song and tried to insure smooth flow from shot to shot.

This is one of my favourite shots in the video because It was a panning handheld mid shot of me walking past, lip syncing to one of the verses. I edited the timing slightly to slow it down about 10% to make sure the video definitely lined up with the non diegetic sound.

In this clip I cut up and chopped up the shots a lot to give a choppy, rough look rather than just showing me walking the whole way up the pond, this was to fit better with the rhythm of the song.

I slowed down this clip about 60% at the end because this helped it to fit in with the slower tempo at the end of the song.
