Posters will include the artist's name, the album name and the release date as well as the brand/logo of the artist and maybe some of the popular singles on the album.
As you can see above, the artist's name will be the biggest text on the poster to quickly draw in fan attention. The album name will be the next biggest thing, usually under their name or near it, see the Jessie J poster above. This makes it easy to find and remember.
As shown above, the release date is usually shown on the album poster too, with either "out now" or the specific date the album was released.
Another important factor of the poster is the artwork or photography, it needs to be eye catching and bold in order to attract audiences therefore selling more copies. More often than not the artist looks directly into the camera to connect with their audience. This is an example of direct address persuasive technique.
Typography is important too, the typography on the poster often matches the typography on the digipak to ensure cohesion and cement the artist's genre.
The language on the poster is concise and direct, so it can be read quickly and remembered easily. For example "includes the titles _____ and _____".
The roles within a poster usually include a graphic designer, who designs the artist's personal brand image. They choose the style and look of all the album covers and posters for that album. Next, a financial advisor may help decide how much money can be used for each area of advertising within the label. Costume stylists and hair/makeup help will work together with the photographer to match the imagery of the design.
